Windows 7 Backup tools in Windows 8

Windows 8 Operating System contains few tools for backup facility. Instead of the backup tools from Windows 7, the File History and Refresh backup facility has been provided. But Windows 7 backup tools are present along with Windows 8 system. Let us learn how to use this. Because, by using Windows 7 tools, Full System Image Backup can be created.
These Hidden Tools will not be found even if you search by using the word “Backup” also. To found them press Windows key. Then search. Select Settings Category and open Save backup copies of your files with File History. In File History Window, select Windows 7 File Recovery from the bottom left side. Here you can find the old Windows 7 backup tools in the name of “Windows 7 Recovery File”.

If you operate this, you can find it functioning as it is in Windows 7 system. But Windows 8 system tells that both Windows 7 and Windows 8 backup tools should not be used at the same time. So if the backup period of Windows 7 had been set basically, the File History provided by Windows 8 will not be available.
There is another way to obtain this window. If you search by using the word recovery, you will find Windows 7 File Recovery.

Full System Backup:

Unlike Windows 8 backup tools, by using Windows 7 File Recovery tool, Full System Image can be backed up. The System Image means the copy of all the files in our computer. By recovering this image, all the files can be restored. Not only the files but also the programs and settings can also be recovered.

To backup a System Image, select Create a system image option from the site bar. This image can be stored in a Hard Disk or can be saved in many DVDs. If your computer is in the network, the image can be saved in other computer’s hard disk or also in the connected portable Hard Drive. It will be of larger size since it is an image of all the files from the computer.

To Restore Backup Image:

After backing up all the files in the computer as an image, sometimes later you want to Restore the image and use the files. To get these files, open PC settings screen. Then press Windows Key + C. Click Settings and select Change PC Settings. In this select General Category and scroll till you get the option Advanced Startup. Now click Restart now to operate the computer again. Now you will get the Advanced options screen. Click Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options -> System Image Recovery. Here you will get system image. From this you can able to restore your computer.

If you are unable to boot your Windows system even if you have tried many times, your computer will automatically goes to the Advanced startup options. Or while booting, by pressing the Shift key for a long time, you can boot the system. Or after booting through Windows 8 installation disk or system repair disk, you can obtain the backed up files.

To set the Backup Period:

If you do not prefer File History type of backup provided by Windows 8 system, and prefer to use backup types from Windows 7 system, then click the link Set up Backup from the Windows 7 File Recovery window. Here you can schedule it like Windows 7 system way.

There are few limitations in the Windows 8 File History Backup tool. Only the files from the system libraries can be backed up using this way. So if you want to backup the files from different folder, then you need to add them to the system libraries.

But since Windows 7 tools provide all the files of the computer as an image file, this is considered to be the easiest and the most preferred way.
